About
CoDatum is a small team of researchers with diverse backgrounds unified around a common cause, making the world a better place. The priority is simple, to equip mission driven organizations with the insights they need to go out and effect change.
Passion for quantitative and qualitative analysis has driven all of our academic and professional pursuits, shaping years of experience in the private and public sector at national, state, and local levels. We formed CoDatum to serve as a focal point for more cohesive contribution.
With multi-sectoral expertise centered around Economics, Policy, and Public Health our team researches a range of subjects: Biostatistics, Demographics, Education, Environmental Issues, Epidemiology, Housing, Labor, and, Transportation. Working with your team and subject matter experts, we help distill a noisy data landscape into impactful bespoke deliverables. Sometimes that support is just data wrangling, analysis, and visualization. If one-pagers, presentations, or formal reports are more appropriate, we do that too. To see some examples of the questions CoDatum fields, and the answers we’ve arrived at, head over to our ‘Portfolio’ page.
Our Brooklyn based team is committed to supporting local causes, providing high-touch support, and answering your organization’s pressing questions. We care about this community too and give back in the best way we know how, offering clarity through accurate and reliable information.
Write us an email, give us a call, or fill out the ‘Contact Us’ form on our website and we will reach out discuss your goals, needs, and how CoDatum can help!
CoDatum?
So why CoDatum? Our team’s collaboration and research predate the term, but eventually you need a name. CoDatum starts as a portmanteau of ‘coda’ and ‘datum.’
Coda suggests a conclusion, some final information that offers ultimate context and resolve. This is a convenient result of the entire team’s love of music. It doesn’t hurt that the pronunciation of CoDatum invokes ‘code,’ something essential to our research and production of such conclusions. Code is systematic, a kind of cypher specifically designed to effectively express information, often clarifying the obscure.
Datum respects where everything begins. Reflecting our mission of contributing to the community, datum derives from the Latin ‘dare’ meaning ‘to give’ or ‘something given.’ Later meanings shifted to convey a basis for calculation. We evaluate our work against this dual implication, insights derived from rigor, attention to detail, and built on solid foundations.
Admittedly, the CoDatum team put a lot of thought into this, and we’re proud of that. That’s what we’re here to do, and we’ll put even more thought into addressing all of your research needs.
